Play-related activity can involve financial loss
An outcome is not guaranteed, and a previous result does not create a promise about the next one. Money used for entertainment should be money that is not needed for housing, food, transport, bills, debt payments, education, health needs, emergency savings, or other essential expenses.
If participation creates financial pressure, secrecy, conflict, sleep problems, or repeated attempts to recover previous losses, stopping is more useful than increasing the amount or time involved.
Set limits before starting
- Choose a spending limit that does not affect essential expenses.
- Choose a time limit and use a timer or alarm if that makes the stop point easier to follow.
- Take regular breaks away from the screen.
- Do not increase a limit simply because a session is going badly.
- Do not borrow money in order to continue.
Do not chase losses
Loss chasing means increasing activity because of the belief that a previous loss must be recovered soon. Each new outcome remains uncertain. A planned stop point should remain a stop point even when the result feels frustrating.
If it becomes difficult to follow a limit, step away from the activity. Where the external account service provides limit, pause, or exclusion tools, review those options before continuing.
Membership targets do not change the limit
A VIP level, points target, promotion, or time-limited condition can create pressure to continue. Treat the spending and time limits you chose earlier as independent of membership progress. Reaching a status level is not a reason to borrow, chase a loss, or use money reserved for essential needs.
Protect account and payment information
Keep passwords unique where possible, keep OTPs and recovery codes private, and never share bank passwords or card PINs. Be cautious with messages that create urgency or promise a refund, recovery, reward, or account unlock in exchange for a secret credential.
Use a device screen lock and avoid storing sensitive information in screenshots, shared notes, or cloud galleries other people can access.
Age and local requirements
Only participate where you meet the applicable age requirement and where the activity is permitted under the rules that apply to you. Requirements can depend on location and the nature of the external service. Check the current rule that applies to your situation rather than assuming one statement covers every user in the Philippines.
Recognize signs that a break is needed
- You are hiding the amount of time or money involved.
- You are using money intended for bills or essentials.
- You are continuing mainly to recover a previous loss.
- Sleep, study, work, or relationships are being affected.
- You feel unable to follow a limit you set before starting.
A break can be temporary or permanent. If you need additional help, use support resources appropriate to your location and situation.
